The Cellar Theatre is SUDS’ very own performance space and sees over 16 productions a year. It is located in the Holme Building under the Refectory and just off Science Road.
The Cellar is a studio space complete with technical equipment and is extremely versatile. Each production transforms the space to suit the directorial concept. We are the only Student Dramatic Society in NSW who have their very own Performance space, and without the unlimited use of the Cellar, SUDS could not produce the amount and quality of theatre it does currently. The society has fought long and hard to maintain sole use of the Cellar space and the battle is continuing. All members must be aware of how privileged we are and must take pride in this space. It is dark, dingy and at times a little smelly but it is the heart and soul of SUDS. It is crucial that when in the Cellar we respect the space and do not interrupt a productions rehearsals or sets.
The only people who have a key to the theatre are the President and the director of the current Cellar show. If you need access to the space you must contact the President, the University and the Union cannot provide access to the space.
